For anyone who’s downloaded my screencasts in the past, I’ve got some great news for you! Today Jamie Rumbelow and I have launched BinaryCake, a site dedicated to providing you with kick-ass development screencasts.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was thinking about producing some ‘High Quality CodeIgniter Screencasts‘. I was a little torn about putting a price on these screencasts, and selling them as a way to to boost my passive income. But the feedback from you, my loyal readers and followers was great, and you all seemed to encourage me to produce them.
For a few years now, I’ve had CodeIgniter Screencasts on my site. This page, along with the Code page of my site have been the most popular pages by far.
Thousands of people download my screencasts every month, and despite some major problems with audio quality, resolution, and audio/video sync, they remain extremely popular.
For this reason, I’ve decided that it’s time to build a passive income stream into my freelancing career, and produce some very high quality CodeIgniter Screencasts along with reference materials, and release them for a small fee ($5 or less).

I'm a 23 year old freelance web developer currently living on beautiful Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness.
The web is certainly my passion. I care about building and maintaining really good applications that actually mean something. Freelancing isn't just my profession, it's a way of life for me, and I love to write and talk about freelance, the rewards and horrors.
I mainly write about web development.

I use 'FreeAgent' to track-time, create invoices, view reports, and calculate my tax. It's the perfect tool for a freelancer.
If you're a UK based freelancer, give it a go. It really does free up more time to actually work rather than messing around with admin tasks.
