Coming Soon: HD Quality CodeIgniter Screencasts

9th May 2009

For a few years now, I’ve had CodeIgniter Screencasts on my site. This page, along with the Code page of my site have been the most popular pages by far.

Thousands of people download my screencasts every month, and despite some major problems with audio quality, resolution, and audio/video sync, they remain extremely popular.

For this reason, I’ve decided that it’s time to build a passive income stream into my freelancing career, and produce some very high quality CodeIgniter Screencasts along with reference materials, and release them for a small fee ($5 or less).

Being a big fan of open source, free resources, and all that is holy in web development, it does pull some heart strings doing this. But, after a great deal of thought, I put it into perspective.
I spend lots and lots of time blogging, releasing good free code, helping people out on Skype, and contributing in podcasts. And until now, I’ve not made a penny from any of that, in-fact, it’s cost me money.

Being a freelancer can be tough, especially if work dries up, these screencasts will provide me with a small regular passive income, and I’m sure they will help people learn how to use CodeIgniter.

So, keep an eye out for these new screencasts.

I welcome any comments people have.
If you think I’m selling out to the man, let me know.
If you think I’m right, and this is a good idea, let me know.

The one thing that drives me to do all these things is you, the community, so I always appreciate your input.
