Writing a CodeIgniter Book

Posted by Elliot on Sunday, February 24th, 2008

As well as building a content management system and growing a free file sharing site, I’ve also began writing a book!

Ive realized that I write a great deal of content about codeigniter, a fantastic php framework. So, I’m going to take content that if already written, along with new juicy bloggy goodness and write a book dedicated to codeigniter development.

Basics, advanced uses, caching, scaling, mysql clustering, security, authentication, the whole
works…

I’m planning to be finished by the end of august, so hopefully you’ll have some nice new bedtime reading for those late summer nights!

Posted in: book, codeigniter.

    sounds awesome.

some might think it counterproductive to write a book about an actively developed web app framework.. but i always enjoy having some solid information outside of forums, wikis and user guides

I just stumbled upon this post 5 minutes after ordering the new Wrox Professional CodeIgniter book from Amazon. What’s the status of this book? You said here that it would be finished some time this month, although it has been a while now and I’m sure your original time frame has changed already.

    hey mate

I really enjoyed your screencasts ages ago when i first started learning CI - so was poking around your site some more - like the new design too btw! Just noticed a spelling error in your post and wanted to point it out for you -

So, I’m going to take content that if already written,

    I think you mean

So, I’m going to take content that I’ve already written,

Good luck with the book mate. If you want a proof-reader I’m your man - I’ll do it for the copy! :)

I would love this! Perhaps making a simple CMS, or CRM tool. Maybe even an invoicing program?

There are so many options. I would love this book though as the current CI books lack any real application development.

  16. gunjack07 Says:

is your blog done with CI?

  17. Ron Says:

    Any news on the book?
    Cheers

  18. Pete Says:

    Hi Elliot!

Any news on a release date for the CI book? I’m really looking forward to buying this - just out of interest what version of CI will the book focus on (I believe 1.70 is the current latest as of Dec 2008)

    Thanks
